A family feud turned violent in the Bibiani-Estate municipality of the Western North Region, leaving a husband and wife in critical condition after being attacked with a machete while taking their bath. The suspect, identified as Frederick Ntiful, is currently on the run as police investigations commence.

According to reports, the altercation began when Monica Addo, the victim’s wife, confronted her brother over unpaid house rent. It was agreed among the siblings that the rent money would be used to cater for their mother’s bills, who the house was built for, but the suspect opted out of the agreement and demanded that his sister release the money and home keys to him, which she refused.

In a fit of rage, the suspect attacked his sister with a machete while she was taking a bath. Her husband, who attempted to rescue her, also suffered machete wounds. The couple was rushed to Bibiani Government Hospital for treatment after being rescued by some neighbours.

The incident highlights the need for families to resolve disputes peacefully, rather than resorting to violence. For the most part, conflicts can be resolved through open communication and mutual understanding. In cases where disagreements cannot be resolved, seeking the assistance of a neutral third party, such as a mediator or counsellor, can be helpful in finding a peaceful resolution.

Violence should never be an option for resolving disputes, as it not only causes physical harm but also emotional trauma that can last a lifetime. It is crucial for families to learn to manage their emotions and communicate effectively to avoid such situations in the future.

As police investigations continue, it is important for the suspect to turn himself in and face the consequences of his actions. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this difficult time.
